On the 18th-19th of August 2021, the first-ever edition of Njord - The Autonomous Ship Challenge was successfully completed.
We were impressed by the amount of work put in by the participating teams. It was clear to see that lots of hours had been invested in solving the challenging task, despite the difficult circumstances due to Covid-19.
The competition was fierce, but the jury agreed that there was one team that stood out. The winning teams' navigation system demonstrated impressive pathfinding and collision avoidance capabilities. We are pleased to announce that the winner of the 2021 Njord Challenge is: ATLANTICS from the University of Porto! Congratulations on the victory and the winning prize of 25 000NOK.
We are also pleased to announce the second place to Técnico Solar Boat from the University of Lisbon. The second place receives 15 000NOK for their impressive efforts.
Third place goes to the University of Strathclyde, receiving 10 000NOK for their efforts.
Thank you to all teams participating, and we hope to see you again next year in Trondheim!
